Century Textiles Q1 net rises

Mumbai, July 23 Century Textiles and Industries Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 107.91 crore (Rs 69.73 crore) for the quarter ended June 30. Net sales stood at Rs 836.84 crore (Rs 721.5 crore).

The company said the result for the quarter ended June 30 are not comparable with that of year-ago quarter due to the closure of manufacturing operations at a textile mill at Worli in Mumbai. Revenue from the discontinued Worli unit amounted to Rs 3.20 crore and the loss amounted to Rs 4.6 crore.

EPS of the company rose to Rs 11.6 from Rs 7.49 in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Shares of Century rose 7.5 per cent to close at Rs 760.50 on BSE.
