Alliance Air cabin crew in Mumbai to operate on AI Express flights

New Delhi, July 25 In an effort to make optimum utilisation of its human resources, Alliance Air, the 100-per cent subsidiary of Indian, is to provide cabin crew to Air India Express, the low-cost subsidiary of Air India.

Official sources told Business Line that 30-40 Alliance cabin crew based in Mumbai were being trained to fly on AI Express flights.

The decision to employ Alliance cabin crew on AI Express was taken as the operations of Alliance, which mainly operates Boeing 737 aircraft, were being replaced with Airbus A-320 aircraft of Indian. AI Express also operates Boeing 737 aircraft although its flies the newer Boeing 737-800 aircraft, while Alliance operates the older Boeing 737-200 aircraft.

“We are expanding our operations and have a continuous need for cabin crew. We have recruited some personnel from Alliance Air who would undergo a two-week conversion course as required by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).before taking up flying duty with Air India Express. We hope to have them flying by September 1,” the Chief Operating Officer of Air India Express, Captain P.P. Singh, told Business Line. Initially, the Alliance Air crew would go on deputation to Air India Express.
