Our Bureau

Mangalore, July 27 New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has said that the port, which is poised to handle additional container cargo, is adding more infrastructure facilities such as reach-stacker and paved stack area for stacking containers.

In a release, Mr S. Gopalakrishna, Traffic Manager of NMPT, said on Friday that a hi-tech mobile crane is positioned at the port and a well-paved stackyard, measuring 40,000 sq ft, is getting ready.

A second reach stacker and additional 86 reefer plug points would be provided at the stackyard soon.

The release also said that a trade meet was organised at Bangalore recently to highlight the facilities available at the port.
