Kochi, July 27 SRMB Udyog Ltd, the TMT Bar manufacturer in the secondary steel market in the country, plans to foray into the retail sector by opening exclusive steel shops across the country shortly.

The company initially plans to open 12 shops in the next two months and as part of the strategy, it has already opened a shop in Kerala at Kozhikode. The second such shop will be opened in Alappuzha soon, Mr M.M. Abraham, Vice-President, Marketing and Distribution, SRMB Udyog Ltd, said at a press meet. Cricketer Kapil Dev, who is the brand ambassador of the company, also attended the press meet.

The opening of such shops will be a revolutionary step taken towards diversification into the retail sector and will strengthen the company’s presence across India, he added.

The Rs 500-crore company has emerged as No. 1 in the secondary steel sector and its product 500 + X Ribs is superior to any other reinforcement steel bar available in the country, he claimed.
