Our Bureau
Mumbai, July 27 The Mumbai based IT services provider Patni Computer Systems Ltd has posted a net profit of Rs 120.69 crore — on a standalone basis (according to Indian GAAP) — for the second quarter ending June 2007 compared with a loss of Rs 17.13 crore posted during the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Total income during the quarter under review rose 39.4 per cent to Rs 357.43 crore (Rs 256.34 crore), Patni said in a filing with the BSE. Consolidated net profit stood at Rs 148 crore compared with a loss of Rs 93 crore reported in the year ago quarter. Total revenues increased by 12.4 per cent to Rs 735 crore (Rs 654 crore). Profitable Growth
“Effective hedging of our foreign currency exposures enabled us to neutralise the negative foreign exchange effect for the quarter besides overall control of operating metrics and costs. We continue to make organic and inorganic investments in our business for long-term profitable growth,” said Mr Surjeet Singh, Chief Financial Officer, Patni.
