Rubber Rubber prices rebound on global cues
Aravindan Kottayam, Aug. 2 Physical rubber prices bounced back on Thursday. The market was reacting sharply to the positive closing in international and domestic futures, while the inflow of the raw material continued to be meagre. Sheet rubber flared up to Rs 88.50 and Rs 89 a kg respectively at Kottayam and Kochi from Rs 87.50 a kg as covering groups turned aggressive on the grade. The trend was mixed and volumes were low. The rubber futures showed a better trend and the August contract for RSS 4 recovered to Rs 88.17 (86.31) a kg on MCX. On NMCE, the August contract for the grade improved to Rs 89.50 (87.40), September to Rs 84.80 (83.41), October to Rs 82.70 (81.54) and November to Rs 82 (81.05) a kg, while the volumes were 2,875 (3,775) lots. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 88.50 (87.50); RSS-5: 86.50 (86); ungraded: 84.50 (83); ISNR 20: 86 (86) and latex 60 per cent: 60 (60).
