New Delhi, Aug. 3 Reliance Industries, which recently announced mega plans for its retail venture, has offered to hire a substantial number of ex-servicemen as it expands in the retail domain. Colonel (Retired) S.P. Nanda, Vice- President, Reliance Industries, said at a function here that the company had a capacity to hire almost 60,000 uniformed men who have retired from service, for the retail venture. A large number of jobs are also being created by the Group in specialised professions such as drivers for cranes, bulldozers, earthmovers and heavy machinery operators. Meanwhile, Reliance Retail said the company requires almost five lakh employees for the venture and it accepts Mr Nanda's decision to hire retired servicemen. - Our Bureau
