The visitors were shown TNAU’s bio-tech lab, bio-diesel plant, post-harvest technology centre and the mushroom park. The team is also expected to visit the Sugarcane Breeding Institute at Coimbatore. The Gujarat State Minister, during interaction with the university scientists, said that the pre-monsoon campaign called ‘Krushi Mahotsav’ — highlighting the scientific farming practices being undertaken by the Gujarat Government since last year — was being continued this year too, covering a total of 18,600 villages. The campaign focused on soil testing, soil test-based fertiliser application, promotion of drip irrigation and distribution of kisan cards, the TNAU press release said.
