Andhra Pradesh gets more tourists

Hyderabad, Aug. 9 Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the top destination for domestic arrivals with over 11.17 crore people visiting the State in 2006.

Talking to presspersons here, Ms Chitra Ramachandran, Secretary (Tourism) of Andhra Pradesh, said the domestic arrivals witnessed a sharp increase when compared with 2005 that saw arrivals of 9.35 crore people. “We form 24 per cent of all the domestic arrivals in the country,” she said.

The number of international tourists went up to 6.6 lakh during 2006 compared with 5 lakh in 2005.
