Alliances & Joint Ventures Matrix ties up with Canadian co for contract research

Naga Sridhar Hyderabad, Aug. 11 The Hyderabad-based Matrix Group and the Canada-based Ethica Clinical Research Inc have formed a joint venture, Ethicamatrix Clinical Research Pvt Ltd, for contract research. “Ethicamatrix will function as a full service Contract Research Organisation (CRO). We will take up ethical clinical research on drugs, biologics, medical devices and natural health products,” Mr V. Siva Prasad, Chief Executive Officer, Matrix Group, told Business Line here on Saturday. “This is 50:50 joint venture partnership and we will invest about Rs 10 crore in the next one year in strengthening our operations,” he said. The firm currently has 30 clinical research analysts. Efforts were on to tie-up with leading hospitals including Deccan Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, and Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Science, Tirupati, he added. Mr Murray Jensen, Director (Clinical Research Affairs), Ethica Clinical Research Inc, said Ethicamatrix would focus on clinical study management, study monitoring and investigative training, among others.
