Performance Rlys July freight loadings up 7.72%
Our Bureau New Delhi, Aug. 14 Indian Railways traffic loadings growth rate recovered in July 2007 compared to growth rate in June 2007. While the Railways’ traffic loadings in July 2007 went up by 7.72 per cent (against July 06), loadings in June 2007 had gone up by 3.94 per cent only (against June 06). The June performance was hit by disruptions in iron-ore loading routes such as KK-Line and the Gujjar community agitation in Rajasthan. July figures
During July 2007, the freight traffic carried by Indian Railways was 61.8 million tonne (mt), registering an increase of 7.72 per cent over the freight traffic of 57.37 mt carried during July last year, said an official release. In June 2007, Railways carried 60.46 mt traffic, reflecting an increase of 3.94 per cent increase over the freight traffic of 58.17 mt moved during the same period last year. April-July
Railways carried 247.05 mt of freight traffic during the first four months (April–July 2007) of the current financial year 2007-08, registering a 5.93 per cent increase. According to an official release, the freight carried reflected an increase of 5.93 per cent over the 233.21 mt traffic carried during the corresponding period last year. April-June
For the April-June 2007 period, Railways had registered a 5.35 per cent annual growth in loadings moving 185.25 mt (against 175.84 mt in same period in previous fiscal).
