Katriya to run hotel at Paryatak Bhavan

K.V. Kurmanath

Hyderabad, Aug. 15 Katriya Hotel and Towers has won the bid for running the 84-room three-star hotel at the Balayogi Paryatak Bhavan, the one-stop-shop for all travel needs, here on a 25-year lease.

“The hotel has bagged the project through a competitive bidding process. The three-stage bidding process considered capabilities, technical and financial aspects,” Mr Raymond Peter, Managing Director of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC), told Business Line.

Tourism Shops

Under the agreement, Katriya is expected to commence operations in six months. The officials, however, hoped that it would be opened within three months. Of the 84-rooms, 20 would be reserved for the General Administration Department of the State Government to accommodate ‘State guests’.

The Rs 30-crore Bhavan, which was formally inaugurated by Ms Ambika Soni, the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, in April last, is a joint initiative of the State and Central Government and the APTDC.

Apart from the hotel, the Begumpet facility would house tourism shops of all States and the Central Government. It would also have space for various service providers from tourism, travel and hospitality segments. The corporation had advertised in June, seeking applications from service providers for taking space on lease.
