Telecommunications Industry & Economy - Infrastructure States - Andhra Pradesh Surana Telecom acquires 50-acre site in SriCity SEZ
Our Bureau Hyderabad, Aug. 17 Surana Telecom Ltd has acquired 50 acres of land in SriCity, a multi-product special economic zone (SEZ) coming up about 50 km from Chennai city. The Managing Director of Surana, Mr Narender Surana, said the company plans to invest about Rs 20 crore initially in infrastructure development there. The SEZ has already received necessary Government approvals. Asked if the company has changed its focus from traditional business of telecom cables and related products, Mr Surana said that infrastructure development was part of the diversification plan which the company had initiated. However, the core business of telecom is being further strengthened with the establishment of units for 11 Kv and 33 Kv power cable unit and another manufacturing unit for rods, Mr Surana said.
