Drop in prices: A worker tending to a turmeric field near Palakkad in Kerala. Prices have declined for the spice by 15 per cent to Rs 2,300 for the finger variety and 18 per cent to Rs 2,150 for the round variety on higher production last year and ample stocks with traders. The fall in prices has led to a lower coverage of the crop during current kharif season. —
