The certification is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service. It takes care of all aspects relating to hygiene and food safety.
A.J. Vinayak Mangalore, Aug. 17 Vittal Cashew Industries at Kanhangad in Kasaragod district has been certified ISO 22000 compliant by the certification agency Moody International. Mr H. Ganesh Kamath, Partner of Vittal Cashew Industries, told Business Line here on Friday that VittalCashew Industries could be the second integrated cashew factory in India to get the ISO 22000 certification. The Mangalore-based Achal Industries was the first integrated cashew factory to get ISO 22000 certification in December last year. Stating that the company is catering to the needs of the domestic market, he said the ISO 22000 certification would help the company to venture into the quality-conscious export market. Mr Santosh Kamath, Managing Partner, Vittal Cashew Industries, said the certification is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service. ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management System is the latest certification which incorporates the principles of ISO 9000 Quality Management System and HACCP (Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Points) and takes care of all aspects relating to hygiene and food safety. The factory sources its cashew from Kasaragod and Kannur districts in Kerala, he said. Vittal Cashew Industries, which also operates a cashew factory at Kundapur in Karnataka, is a member of the Karnataka Cashew Manufacturers’ Association.
