HDFC Bank plans to keep retail NPAs low

Our Bureau

Kolkata, Aug. 17

HDFC Bank, for which gross retail NPAs are 1.2 per cent of the retail book, plans to keep a tight leash on retail NPAs, especially in a scenario marked by a general surge in personal / consumer and other loans, Mr Rao indicated.

The bank, like other entities in the banking fraternity, has in recent years, witnessed a proliferation on the loans front. At the same time, there is a marked step-up in consumer awareness, thanks to a combination of factors.

About 1.2 million accounts make up HDFC Bank’s universe of receivables management at this juncture. Its retail asset book stands at roughly Rs 32,000 crore.
