Our Bureau New Delhi, Aug. 22 Ranbaxy Laboratories has launched its registered urology drug — Roliflo OD — in India. The Novel Drug Delivery System (NDDS) product is a combination of two drugs, Tamsulosin and Tolterodine, and is used in the management of chronic urological disorder. In a statement, the Gurgaon-based company said that the once-a-day drug was being introduced for the first time in India. “Roliflo OD will provide the urologists with an improved treatment option for patients suffering from this highly uncomfortable condition. Ranbaxy is the leader in the Urology segment and the introduction of the product based on our proprietary Multiparticulate NDDS technology further reinforces our leadership position in delivering novel therapeutic options, to urologists in the Indian market,” said Mr Sanjeev Dani, Senior Vice President and Regional Director-Asia and CIS, Ranbaxy. Overactive bladder in patients with bladder outlet obstruction largely remains under-treated due to the occurrence of side effects with currently available options in such patients, said the company. Ranbaxy claims five out of every ten individuals above 40 years of age suffer from benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate) with concomitant overactive bladder.
