Retailing Info-Tech - Hardware States - West Bengal RPG Cellucom opens 4 outlets in Kolkata
RPG Cellucom stores will showcase 200 mobility products and 75 models of cellular phones. Besides mobile phones, it will offer PDAs, notebooks, mobile enhancements, mobile entertainment, IT accessories and peripherals and connectivity solutions. Plans to open 25 RPG Cellucom outlets in the State by March 2008.

Our Bureau Kolkata, Aug 24 RPG Cellucom India Pvt Ltd has unveiled plans for 500 retail outlets across the country by December 2008. The company, which has, currently, 75 retail stores located in five cities across the country, today opened four RPG Cellucom outlets in Kolkata. Addressing newspersons on the occasion, Mr Sanjiv Goenka, Vice-Chairman of the RPG Group, said Rs 100 crore would be invested on the retail rollout plan by December 2008. The company was hopeful of generating a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore in the fiscal 2008-09. “Since we have just started rolling out our retail plans, the impact on revenue will be felt in the financial year 2008-09”, Mr Goenka said. According to him, RPG Cellucom stores will showcase 200 mobility products and 75 models of cellular phones. These will include brands such as Nokia, Motorola, Sony, Erricsson, Samsung, HP/Compaq, Toshiba, Lenova and Acer, among others. Besides mobile phones, the stores will have on offer PDAs, notebooks, mobile enhancements, mobile entertainment, IT accessories and peripherals and connectivity solutions. With regard to West Bengal, Mr Goenka said plans have been firmed up to open a total of 25 RPG Cellucom outlets by March 2008. RPG Cellucom, which is part of the RPG Group’s retail venture, has entered into a partnership with the Dubai-based Cellucom Group, a specialised and organised retailer of mobility products in the West Asia. Cellucom has, over the years, developed a distinctive retail concept offering a variety of mobility solutions and a better shopping experience by sharing the knowledge of mobile technology in a consumer-friendly ambience, it was stated.
