Branch norms for urban co-ops

Mumbai, Aug. 28

Urban co-operative banks can now shift their branches from one city to another in their area of operation provided the new centre is of the same or lower population group as the existing centre, said a notification from the Reserve Bank of India.

The notification further added that a branch located in under-banked district can be shifted to another centre in under-banked district only and the shifting should be beneficial to the bank in terms of cost and business.
