11-week low volume at Coonoor tea auctions

Coonoor, Aug 30 A volume of 9.58 lakh kg has been catalogued for the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) taking place here this week. This is the lowest volume of the last 11 weeks.

It is some 57,000 kg lower than the volume offered last week. However, it is some 90,000 kg more than the offer this time last year.

Of the 9.58 lakh kg offered now, as much as 6.48 lakh kg belong to the leaf grades and only 3.10 lakh kg, dust grades.

Orthodox low

Again, as much as 8.80 lakh kg belong to the CTC variety and only 0.78 lakh kg belong to orthodox variety.

The proportion of orthodox is low in both the leaf and dust grades.
