Series of water expos planned

Ahmedabad, Aug. 30

Everything About Water, knowledge and marketing solutions provider in the field of water and wastewater management, will organise a series of water shows called regional water expos (RegEx 2007) in major Indian cities in the next four months to focus on untapped market demand and target business community in a big way.

These expos will be organised by EA Water Private Ltd, the NewDelhi-based company providing water solutions, at Ahmedabad (September 7-9), Hyderabad (October 4-6), Kolkata (November 1-3) and Chandigarh (December 6-8), Mr H. Subramaniam, Vice-President, told a news conference here.

In the Ahmedabad RegEx 2007, 25 experts and speakers and 200 delegates from across the world are expected to participate. Companies and bodies engaged in water treatment, wastewater management and all other related industries would come together to exhibit their products and expertise, he said, adding a conference on ‘Clean solutions for cleanwater’, and training workshop will also be organised.

Drinking water investments constitute about three per cent of the national Budget due to which 85 per cent urban and 75 per cent of the rural population has access to public water supplies.

Indian cities are generating around 20 million cubic metres per day of sewage and the market appears untapped with majority of industries unaware of or disinclined to treat water they use or dispose.

Mr Subramaniam said the meet aimed at encouraging industry to use technology to save and treat water. Industrial use of water has a direct bearing on the country’s economy. As the Indian GDP increases, there would be a corresponding increase in water usage by industries, depletion of water table further and rise in cost of water, and therefore, industrial output. The expos aimed at highlighting these facts and sought to provide solutions.
