The Hindu Business Line : KDS container throughput up 27% in April-Aug

KOLKATA: Kolkata Dock System (KDS), one of the two dock systems of Kolkata port, has posted an impressive growth in container throughput, according to a release issued by the port. Between April and August this year, the throughput at 1,23,234 TEUs (as compared to 96,983 TEUs in the same period of last year) recorded more than 27 per cent growth.

In August alone, KDS handled 27,562 TEUs, the highest ever monthly throughput surpassing the previous best of 25,913 TEUs achieved in May this year. In August 2006, the throughput was 21, 309 TEUs, add the port sources. — Our Burea u
