New generation MRI machine at Apollo Hospitals

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept. 4 Getting an MRI test done will no longer be a difficult task, particularly for those who suffer from claustrophobia. They can choose the ambience from a variety of animations with synchronised lighting. What’s more, they can listen to soothing music as they moved into the cylindrical area of the machine.

The new generation MRI machine developed by Philips, which installed the first such machine at Apollo Hospitals here, makes the patients comfortable. “It does away with the harassing sounds the ordinary MRI machines make. The 1.5 Tesla MRI machine gives 16 times faster imaging,” said Dr Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman of Apollo Hospitals group.

The Hyderabad facility, which has been declared a Health City two months ago, also got a 64-slice cardiac CT scan machine, manufactured by Philips. “It gives a quicker, safer and more accurate image, which helps take high resolution images of heart and other organs,” he said.
