Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Sept. 6 Solar Semiconductor has bagged an order worth €10 million (Rs 55 crore) from a European company for supply of high-quality solar photovoltaic (PV) modules.

The company, which has offices in Hyderabad and Sunnyvale, US signed the deal at the ongoing 22nd European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition 2007 in Milan, Italy.

While not disclosing the name of the European company citing non-disclosure norms, Solar Semiconductors said that the contract size was significant for an Indian company in the emerging global renewable energy market.

It is required to deliver the products in 2007 and the beginning of 2008, said Mr Hari Surapaneni, CEO, in a release.

The company plans to invest up to $40 million during the current fiscal in phase I of its independent solar PV module manufacturing unit in the upcoming Fabcity near Hyderabad.
