Russia lifts ban on Indian sesame seeds, groundnuts

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Sept. 8 Indian traders can once again start exporting sesame seeds and groundnuts to Russia.

The ban implemented by Russia on imports of Indian sesame seeds and groundnuts has been temporarily lifted with effect from September 11.

This decision follows the deliberations that the Indian delegation comprising Mr S. Dave, Director, Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, Mr Sanjiv Sawla, Chairman, Indian Oilseeds & Produce Exporters Association, and others had with their Russian counterparts.

However, a Russian team will visit India in October to verify and finalise the systems under which exports will be permissible, according to reports from Mr Sawla from Moscow.

The team will visit laboratories and processing plants for the two commodities to verify the conditions deemed fit for exports.
