‘Hiring to gather pace’

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Sept. 11 Hiring trend in the country continues, cheering prospective job seekers as it holds big hope for them to be placed across all industries in the coming quarter too.

In a study of 4,922 employers across seven sectors by recruitment firm by Manpower Services India, 49 per cent said they were planning to hire more people in the coming quarter while two per cent anticipated a dip in recruitment.

The net employment outlook for the last quarter of this year is expected to be around +47 per cent, the highest since the survey was established in India in 2005. Net employment outlook is calculated by subtracting the percentage expecting to see a decrease in employment in the next quarter from the percentage of employers anticipating employment to increase. Employers in all seven sectors covered in the study have expressed high hiring intentions.

The strongest outlook was found among employers in the services sector (+54 per cent) with the weakest intentions seen among manufacturing players (+40 per cent).

The finance, insurance and real estate industry sector reports the strongest increase in hiring activity since the previous quarter (17 percentage points).

Region-wise, employers in the South expressed highest intention to hire (+50 per cent) while employers in the East were less positive (+33 per cent). The study covered 30 cities in the country.
