Blueshift eyeing SME sector with new tool

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore, Sept. 13 The Atlanta-headquartered Blueshift has since shifted its business focus from a software solutions service provider to product development by leveraging on technology.

“We started operations in 1993 as a software services company in the US. Seven years later, in 2000, we entered the India market by establishing a product development and delivery centre in Chennai. We have since shifted focus to product development as the software services space is overcrowded,” Mr Prashant Sankaran, CEO, Blueshift, told Business Line.

The company is eyeing the SME segment with its technology-leveraged HR solution. “We are yet to commercialise our ‘online admission management services’ – OAMS – a product we developed for educational institutions,” Mr Sankaran said.

Blueshift has nevertheless managed to introduce the OAMS in about six institutions, including the Symbiosis group and Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore.

“Online admissions are just catching up in India. Last year alone, Symbiosis Institute received over one lakh applications online. Such an effort enlarges the target group as the applicants can download applications and apply online, besides fetching better revenue for the institute,” he said.

Considering the response, Blueshift now plans to market OAMS both in India and abroad. “We host and manage the service. Institutions would find it more cost-effective to avail this as a managed service as admission is seasonal,” Mr Sankaran contended.
