Telecommunications Marketing - Trends 5.9 m GSM users added in Aug Our Bureau New Delhi, Sept. 13GSM-based cellular operators have added 5.9 million new users in August taking the total tally to 147 million mobile subscribers in the country. While Bharti Airtel emerged the biggest gainer with over 2 million new subscribers, Vodafone Essar was not too far behind with 1.6 million taking a Hutch connection. The state-owned BSNL made a come back of sorts with over 7 lakh new subscribers. The company has been reporting under 5 lakh new users over the last three months. In the overall tally, Bharti continues to be the largest operator with nearly 47 million subscribers. In terms of geography, Circle A States comprising Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu reported the largest growth in August with more than 5 per cent increase in the user base compared to the previous month.
