Jubilant extends association with Syngenta

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Sept. 18 Jubilant Organosys, a custom research and manufacturing services (CRAMS) company, has extended its association with Swiss agribusiness and biotech company, Syngenta, with a five year, multimillion-dollar contract.

The agreement is for the supply of pyridines, a building block and a solvent in industrial organic chemistry and a reagent in organic synthesis.

Pyridines have several uses, including in antibiotics, anti-dandruff shampoos and agro-chemical intermediaries used in marine paints.

The company said that that with this contract, it has become the leading producer of pyridines in the world.

In August, Jubilant expanded its production capacity for pyridines and picolines by nearly 23 per cent to 42,000 tonnes a year at an investment of about Rs 60 crore.

Pyridine and its derivatives represent high-growth areas for the company’s pharmaceutical and life science products business, with a growth rate of 20-25 per cent.

The company has more than 150 pyridine derivatives in its product portfolio and is adding to the number.
