The school will be implemented by KSCSTE and DAE has sanctioned Rs 1 crore as seed money towards the initial cost of Rs 5 crore. The balance Rs 4 crore will be equally shared by KSCSTE and the National Board of Higher Mathematics. The school is expected to be operational by early next year.

Pact inked

The MoU was signed here on Tuesday between Dr E.P. Yesodharan, Executive Vice-president, KSCSTE, and Dr C.V. Ananda Bose, Joint Secretary (R&D), DAE, in the presence of the Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan.

The school will be run as a national facility while, at the same time, contribute to the development of mathematics in Kerala. It will be a meeting ground for mathematicians from home and abroad with a core group specialising in a few selected areas.

The school has been conceived on the lines of Newton Institute at Cambridge and apart from giving summer training to teachers, it will organise teaching-related conferences and expert lectures.
