Convergence Windows Mobile: 1-lakh sets sold Bangalore, Sept. 19 Microsoft has announced that over 1-lakh handsets powered by Windows Mobile have been sold. It expects sales of over 2 lakh by the end of next year. Manufacturers such as HTC, HP (iPAQ), Imate, O2 and Motorola have phones running this operating system. “We aim to touch sales of two lakh by the end of FY-08,” said Mr Sumeet Gugnani-Director, Mobile Communications Business, Microsoft India, in a release. Windows Mobile, which had a market share of 30.5 per cent in the first quarter of 2007 (according to IDC), maintained its shipment level this quarter as well. According to IDC Worldwide Converged Mobile Device 2006-2011 Forecast and Analysis, May 2007, Windows Mobile is expected to see a CAGR of 57 per cent, the highest rate of growth among the top 5 platforms through 2011. — Our Bureau More Stories on : Convergence | Telecommunications | Software
