Heathrow’s Terminal 5 soon

All set for the launch

Countdown begins for opening of London Heathrow’s Terminal 5. Airport operator BAA and British Airways has launched intensive six-month readiness activities in preparation for the opening of the terminal on March 27, 2008. The activities include induction and familiarisation programmes and staff training. These activities run parallel to the final completion of work. Over 30,000 staff from different organisations will be taken through comprehensive familiarisation and induction programmes of the new terminal. BAA and British Airways jointly begin a series of basic tests involving different individual elements of the building including for example, signage, check-in process and evacuation procedures. A series of complex integrated trials will begin in November and will give volunteers the opportunity to test out the new terminal. Over 16,000 passengers have been recruited to act as volunteer passengers.
