Rajasekhara Reddy, took the decision at a review meeting on the land distribution issue as a part of the implementation of the Koneru Ranga Rao Committee recommendations. According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office, already about 1.35 lakh acres of vacant land were earmarked and ready for distribution to the landless poor. Alongside four thousands of acres of assigned lands, clear titles would be accorded to the landless poor during the land distribution programme. The village-wise and district-wise list is in the process of being finalised. The Chief Minister directed the administration to ensure that adequate land with clear titles was earmarked and ready for distribution among the landless poor. The Chief Minister reiterated that not an inch of Government, private or endowment land would be allowed to be illegally occupied or encroached upon.
