Awards for space tech students

Bangalore, Oct. 1

Sweden and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have jointly instituted two annual prizes for postgraduate students of the newly established Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. The selected students will be sent on a visit to Sweden to familiarise themselves with Swedish Space research. They would also be taken to Uppsala University, a centre of Space Micro Satellites manufacturing and Esrange ̵ 2; the European Space and Sounding Rocket Range — a rocket range and research centre. Announcing this a joint press conference here Monday, Mr Stefan Jonsson, Counsellor, Office of Science and Technology, Embassy Sweden and Mr S. Satish, Director (Publications), Indian Space Research Organisation, said this move would enhance the interest in space science among students to do research.
