Lower crop: Workers engaged in cardamom grading at a godown near Kochi in Kerala. Good buying support and short supply have helped the spice to maintain its upward trend at the auctions in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Delayed rains have hit the crop and the production is feared to be lower by 50 per cent this year. Arrivals from August 1 to September 26 were 765 tonnes against 1,394 tonnes during the same period a year ago. –
