Our Bureau New Delhi, Oct 5 Jet Airways is to acquire 20 more Boeing 737-800 aircraft and has executed a purchase agreement with the US-based aircraft manufacturing company for the sale, the airline has informed the National Stock Exchange. The aircraft, that are being ordered to maintain and expand the airlines international and domestic operations, would be delivered between October 2012 and December 2014. Agreement optionsThe agreement also allows the airline the option of purchasing another 10 Boeing 737-800 aircraft if it requires. These additional aircraft would be delivered between August 2013 and February 2015. “Most of the new Boeing 737 aircraft covered by this purchase agreement will be replacements for older owned and leased aircraft that would be phased out by the company in accordance to their term expiries during this period,” the airline statement to the exchange adds. While the price of the order has not been mentioned, the Boeing Web site shows the current value of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft ranging from $70.5 million to $79 million. However, most large airlines are known to be able to get sizable discount on the list price of the aircraft. The Government recently allowed Jet Airways permission to operate 70 flights a week between India and Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain from January next year. Apart from a daily flight between India and Kuwait which is to be operated with an Airbus A-330 aircraft, the Government permission allows the airline to operate a daily flight on all other Gulf routes with a Boeing 737-800 variety of aircraft. The airline already operates several countries abroad including Sri Lanka, Nepal, UK, US and Singapore. More Stories on : Airlines | Jet Airways (India) Ltd
