Boeing Defence keen on tie-ups with Indian cos

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Oct 8 Boeing Integrated Defence Systems, which sees India as a $10-15-billion defence market over the next 10 years, is open to the idea of tying up with Indian companies for making products for the local and international market.

Speaking to newspersons the Vice-President, Asia-Pacific, International Business Development, Boeing Integrated Defence Development, Mr Mark Kronenberg, said a host of opportunities exist for companies to tie-up with the US-based company to produce products that can be marketed in the domestic and international markets.

“We can tie up with existing companies like Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd or Bharat Electronics Ltd or look at new companies in both the public and private sector,” Mr Kronenberg, added.

The $32-billion US company is one of the six companies to which the Defence Ministry has sent the request for proposal for the 126 medium multi-role combat aircraft project. “We are working through the Request for Proposal and feel that we can bring not only aircraft but also an industrial package that would be beneficial,” Mr Kronenberg said.

In addition, the company has also responded to other projects of the Indian Government including a proposal for supplying heavy lift helicopters.
