Modern airports for Udaipur, Amritsar

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Oct. 8 Amritsar and Udaipur would soon see modern airports with the Airports Authority of India inviting Request For Quotation (RFQ) for outsourcing on a long term basis the maintenance and commercial exploitation of the new terminal buildings there.

An official statement issued on Monday states that both the airports have surplus land that can be used to provide cargo facilities and passenger amenities such as hotels, restaurants and car parks among others.

AAI is developing the terminal in Amritsar at an estimated cost of Rs 112 crore while the Udaipur terminal is expected to be completed at a cost of Rs 125 crore. The statement adds that both the terminals should be commissioned by March next year. The maintenance and commercial exploitation of the new terminal buildings is proposed to be outsourced to credible private entities on a long-term concession basis.
