Drop in output: A woman collecting latex at a sheet manufacturing unit near Kochi, Kerala. Rubber production during the first quarter of the current fiscal declined to 1.44 lakh tonnes against 1.69 lakh tonnes during the same time a year ago. Rubber production has been affected by workers in the estates being hit by chikungunya. In view of the fall in production, rubber prices are ruling firm at Rs 90 a kg for ribbed smoked sheet IV grade. –
