New Delhi, Oct.10 The Ministry of Civil Aviation has given in-principle approval to Kingfisher Airlines to import 50 Airbus aircraft including 15 Airbus A-350.

The Ministry has also given its nod to the airline for importing 20 Airbus A-320, five Airbus A-340 and 10 Airbus A-330 aircraft. Kingfisher Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus Industries for these aircraft at the Paris Air show in June this year. The order is valued at more than $7 billion.

Kingfisher would receive the first of the 50 aircraft in March next year and would have to wait till 2014 to receive the first A-350. The aircraft can fly 270 passengers up to 15,400 km non-stop that would allow the airline to fly non-stop between Mumbai and San Francisco.

The Ministry has also given its in-principle approval to Jet Airways to import 20 Boeing 737-800 aircraft and also take 10 similar aircraft on options. The airline had recently announced the order to the National Stock Exchange.

In addition the Ministry has also given permission to Deccan Aviation, the operators of Air Deccan permission to import one Airbus A-320 aircraft while MDLR airline has been permitted to import one Avro RJ-70 aircraft on long term lease.

Among the other proposals cleared by the Ministry include allowing the Mumbai-based GVK Aviation to import one Augusta A-109 Power and another Augusta A-119 Koala passenger helicopter apart from allowing the Chhattisgarh Government to import an Augusta A-109 helicopter.
