‘Engineers must be celebrated’

Our Bureau

Bangalore, Oct. 11 Engineers must be celebrated, opined Mr Craig Mundie, Chief Research and Strategy Officer, Microsoft Corporation, speaking at the conclusion of the two-day ‘India is innovation’ summit in the city.

There are a few instances where engineering is celebrated, but it is generally the invention that is heralded, not the person behind it, he mourned. He bemoaned the fact that cricket and Bollywood were celebrated instead of science and engineering, when it is the latter that will help humanity take the next step. “Our future is in enhancing engineers, not politicians,” he said.
