Economy States - Tamil Nadu ‘Globalisation accelerates growth rate’ Our Bureau Tirunelveli, Oct 11 The economy, which had a growth of only around five per cent until a few years ago, is now projecting a gross domestic product growth of over nine per cent, thanks to globalisation, said Dr Balasubramaniam, Prof of Amrita Institute of Management, Coimbatore. Inaugurating the ‘Business Line Club’ in the Department of Commerce of Sri Parasakthi College for Women at Courtallam recently, Dr Balasubramaniam compared the growth rate of India, the US, China and Japan and reaffirmed that the country’s economy would outsmart the US economy within the next 30 years. The per capita income level has been on an upward trend in India now, which is only a reflection to the healthy trend in production and GDP. “India is going through a glden period with a plethora of employment opportunities in banking, IT, media, education, retail and manufacturing sectors. Thus, it is high time that the students improve their reading habits and communication skills and, thereby, become employable,” he said. Globalisation has brought about all round prosperity with properties, share prices and other asset prices moving up in right direction. He asserted that with the growing economy, there is a need for students to protect themselves from global competition and become an all-rounder. There is a change happening everywhere and the budding students need to adapt to these changes without complacency. Dr Balasubramanian advised students to make the best use of newspapers and other electronic media to improve their communication skills with a proper focus on future career planning. He concluded his presentation with a clear message to the students to develop their self-confidence and be competent in the global market. More Stories on : Economy | Tamil Nadu
