New Delhi, Oct. 12

Panasonic India, on Friday, announced a strategic partnership to establish its digital imaging business in the country with MCC Group, a service-based national sales and distribution company. “The digital imaging segment is growing at the rate of 18 per cent per annum and we hope to capture 10 per cent of the market by the end of the first financial year. We plan an initial investment of Rs 5 crore to establish the business and penetrate the channel,” said Mr H . Asou, Chairman, Panasonic India. Panasonic India, along with MCC Group, also launched 10 new models of the former’s Lumix digital still camera ranges as well as its Ecam range, priced at Rs 9,490-Rs 29,990 and Rs 14,990- Rs 69,990 respectively. The Japanese electronics firm also said that it would set up 100 exclusive brand shops, up from the current three, in order to combat competition from other significant players in the category.
