Trade & Labour Unions Bank unions to make common charter of demands K.R. Srivats New Delhi, Oct. 12 For the first time ever, bank unions are to submit a common charter of demands to the Indian Banks’ Association (IBA) for the next wage revision settlement. With the existing settlement, arrived about five years back, set to lapse on October 31, the nine bank unions are to meet in Mumbai on October 18 to finalise the charter of demands. The meeting would he held under the aegis of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). “All the nine unions have agreed to submit a common charter of demands to IBA. Till now each of them were giving it individually. For the first time, we will have a common charter of demand,” Mr C.H. Venkatachalam, Convenor of the UFBU, and General Secretary of All India Bank Employees Association, told Business Line. The nine unions together represent 9 lakh employees and officers of public sector banks, private sector banks and foreign banks. Meanwhile, the UFBU is likely to decide on October 18 the next course of action against the proposed merger of State Bank of Saurashtra with State Bank of India.
