Wockhardt in pact with UK co for acne product

Our Bureau

Mumbai, Oct. 15 Wockhardt Ltd has forged an in-licensing agreement with the UK-based speciality pharmaceutical company Crawford Healthcare to market Zindaclin, a patented ‘once-a-day’ topical application for acne.

The product is the first of its kind in the country, the company said, adding that the domestic market potential for the acne product is Rs 168 crore.

In-licensing would be a key driver for the future, the Wockhardt Chairman, Mr Habil Khorakiwala, said in the press release.

The Zindaclin licensing deal follows the launch of Vitix and Viticolor, patented products from LSI and Crawford of the UK respectively, for the treatment of Vitiligo in the local market.

As in the case of Vitix and Viticolor, Wockhardt will manufacture Zindaclin in India from imported active ingredients. Zindaclin will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2007 by Wockhardt’s dedicated dermatology team, SkinUno, the company said.

Wockhardt scrip closed marginally up on the BSE at Rs 414.30
