Campaign for fortified foods

Shah Rukh new brand ambassador

Gandhinagar, Oct 16 Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan will be the brand ambassador for a social and national cause: promoting fortified foods such as edible oil and wheat flour to fight deficiency of micronutrients that cause different diseases in children and adults alike.

And he is doing it for free as a social service. “ He will have the messages shot at in Mumbai and deliver these to us,” a Gujarat civil servant who launched the fortification drive with a missionary zeal two years ago, now being replicated by other States, told Business Line here today.

Dr S K Nanda, Principal Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, said he had Shah Rukh Khan .Other states are expected to take up the drive started in Gujarat. .

To woo children, the State Government was also considering to supply fortified milk, chocolates and sweets in mid-day meals to the anganwadi kids in Gujarat.
