Bond market listless

Bond prices fell by around 5-10 paise on Wednesday but trading remained lacklustre during the day. Total traded volumes on the order matching system were at Rs 1,440 crore (Rs 1,305 crore). Dealers said there was little trading interest in the bond market. "Treasuries were focused more on the stock and forex markets today," said a dealer at a private bank. Market participants said that no major price movements were expected ahead of the monetary policy review. The 7.49 per cent - 10-year-2017 benchmark paper opened at Rs 97.035 (7.94 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 97.10 (7.93 per cent YTM), against the previous close at Rs 97.15 (7.92 per cent YTM). The 7.99 per cent-10- year-2017 paper opened at Rs 100.35 (7.93 per cent YTM) and closed at Rs 100.42 (7.92 per cent YTM), against Tuesday's Rs 100.49 (7.91 per cent YTM). - Our Bureau
