Shipping States - Kerala Deadline extended for Vizhinjam project Our Bureau Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 17 The Kerala Government has extended the last date for submitting bids for the development of an international container trans-shipment terminal at Vizhinjam, near here, to December 15.The Government had earlier fixed the last date for submitting the bids as October 31. The Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, told newspersons after the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday that 28 companies had bought request for proposal (RFP) to participate in the bidding. The project is proposed to be developed in a public-private partnership mode. It may be noted that of the 28 companies which had bought RFP, six are foreign entities, including Maersk and Singapore Port Authority. The Indian companies include Reliance, L&T, Jupiter Capital and Zoom Developers. This is the second time that bids have been called for the project. Last time, Zoom Developers, in consortium arrangement with two Chinese companies, had bagged the tender, which, however, could not be finalised for want of security clearance from the Centre.
