KCCI for air cargo complex

Mangalore, Oct. 18

The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has sought the establishment of an air cargo complex at Mangalore airport. In a letter to the Chief Commissioner of Customs, Ms Heera Radhakrishnan, the President of KCCI, Mr K. Narasimha Prabhu, said that the chamber is of the opinion that approximately three to five tonnes a day of air cargo would be available at Mangalore airport to start with an air cargo complex. Horticultural, vegetables and agro-based products would contribute significantly for the export cargo from the region to the West Asian countries. A steep increase in the quantum of air cargo is likely in the coming days, he said. Stating that development is taking place in the region at a very fast phase, he said the establishment of an air cargo complex will help boost the growth taking place in the region.
