Visakhapatnam, Oct. 19 South Africa is interested in the proposal made by the National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) to set up a half-a-million tonne capacity aluminium plant in that country and has promised to extend all help for the purpose, according to Dr T. Subbarami Reddy, the Union Minister of State for Mines.

At a press meet here on Friday evening, the minister, who had recently visited Africa along with the Prime Minister, said that Mr Sandile Nogxina, the head of South African Mining and Steel Ministry, had made a promise to that effect and agreed to provide the requisite raw material.

He said there was immense scope for co-operation between India and South Africa as also India and Nigeria.
